The Computer Magician's
Computer Preventative Maintenance

For the cost of our hourly fee, we will inspect your system from top to bottom.  Here is what we do;

Preventative Maintenance was done on your computer.

Dust build-up is a huge problem for computers. As dust builds up in a computer, fans and components become caked in the dust, causing overheating and component failure. By scheduling Preventative Maintenances every 6-9 months, this risk is greatly reduced. Dust is blown out of the machine, drives are cleaned, and internal cables are adjusted to maximize air flow. Preventative Maintenance also includes an overview of the system’s startup section of the registry. Our technicians review system resources and maximize the registry setting to speed up your computer. During the Preventative Maintenance process, over 15 software settings are reviewed to further maximize your computer’s performance. They include (but are not limited to): Scandisk, Defrag, cache file removal, Internet Explorer temporary file removal, cross-linked file removal, system tray program removal, temp file removal, root directory optimization, directory setting, video settings, start menu setting, task bar setting, and lost registry files. You will not hear us use terms like "Refresh Registry" and or "Refresh the OS" because these terms do not make sense.  We can explain every aspect of what we do to make your system work better.

Updates were done to your computer.

In order for your computer to operate at full efficiency, it is important to update programs on a regular basis. The Computer Magician takes the time to do this to ensure that you have the most current updates for programs and the necessary patches to conduct error-free functions. The latest versions of your operating system service patch, DirectX, MS Media Player, Internet Explorer, other Microsoft updates and device drivers are downloaded for your convenience. This is a service generally provided with a clean installation of the Operating System and PM.

Did The Computer Magician invent the term Preventative Maintenance?

Many computer repair centers would like to think they invented the term PC Preventative Maintenance. One local repair center even told us they coined the phrase and we should stop using their slogan ASAP.  Little did this local company realize they discovered our use of this term by watching one of our old TV commercials (archived two years before they even started their business) we decided to run as a special.  Our systems engineer came up with the term PM over 9 years ago when he discovered a common thread of problems related to the repair of computers coming in to our store.  Fact is, it's such an important and integral part of owning a computer system (and the most abused and overlooked), that every computer retail and repair center should make it the number one talked about service, we do!

Regardless of who came up with the term, here at The Computer Magician llc, we know it's one of the most important services you can have done to your system every 6 to 9 months.
